I am currently recruiting for an experienced Care Support assistant for a large SEMH school for their care team situated in the Leeds are to start ASAP for a temp -perm role.  The role is highly challenging and will need a great deal of resilience.

 The role will involve working with a wider part of the team supporting all classes when incidents occur and need de-escalating effectively and efficiently. You will need to have a great depth of understanding their complex mental health and attachment needs.

It is highly important you have a thick skin and able to develop trusted relationships fast and efficiently.

Job Spec and Description:

  • Operate within agreed professional ethical and school policies when working with pupils and those involved with them.
  • Encourage and support staff in positive regard restraint training when presented with difficult behaviours.
  • Supporting pupils overcome their crisis and deal with the consequences.
  • Assist integration for the child into the rest of the class/group.
  • Maintain good working relationships with the other members of staff.
  • Empower pupils and encourage positive regulation of social and emotional skills.
  • To support the child focus in class and keep them on task to complete.
  • Develop positive relationships with the pupils.
  • Listen to the child and offer appropriate support if necessary.
  • Provide information for behavioural records and report back as required.
  • Have at least 6 months’ experience working in a similar role or similar setting.
  • Support the learners with personalised strategies for regulating and overcoming developmental vulnerabilities.
  • Enabling the learners to better regulate themselves and build resilience.
  • You will also need to be able to use therapeutic language effectively
  • Understand and implement a nurturing practice.
  • Ability to build trusted attune to the learners and have a positive regard.
  • Must have Team Teach training, or willing to complete this and be very confident and undertake the holds.
