Residential Support Worker evenings and night shift cover.


I am currently recruiting for 4 x experienced residential support workers to work in a residential special school situated in Ripon in North Yorkshire. Individuals attending the residential special school have a wide range of special educational needs including Autistic spectrum disorder, challenging behaviour and complex needs. The role is flexible on a shift pattern basis and can choose from waking nights 10pm-8am or evening shifts 3pm-10pm. If you qualify over the probationary period there will be an opportunity to become permanent.


Job description and spec:


  • Previous experience working as a support worker in a children’s residential or similar setting.

  • Ability to build trusted relationships with the children you are supporting.

  • Understand differentiated abilities of the children you will be caring for.

  • Team Teach trained is an advantage, but not essential as training will be provided.

  • Providing a safe and positive living environment.

  • A practical and flexible approach to work.

  • A non- judgemental attitude.

  • Tact, patience and empathy.

  • Ability to assess situations and take appropriate action.

  • Resilience to cope with difficult situations and challenging behaviour.

  • Must have level 3 or above GNVQ Health and Social Care

  • Follow the residential behaviour policies and procedures.

  • Competitive hourly rate.
