SEBD Teaching Assistant

Job Description:

SEBD Teaching Assistant – Bury / Rossendale
£58 – £75 per day

PK Education’s Manchester branch are working with a group of dynamic special schools in the Bury and Rossendale areas in order to recruit positive Teaching Assistants who are passionate about supporting young people.

These special schools cater for vulnerable young people aged 6 to 14 with a range of special needs, such as Social Emotional Behavioural Difficulties (SEBD), mental health issues, autism, ADHD and Looked After Children. They are looking for resilient and adaptable teaching assistants to work with pupils on a one to one basis and in small groups; you will be required to assist students across the curriculum, with outdoor activities and provide emotional support also. The aim of this alternative provision is to offer an individualised educational program in a positive and structured environment while also helping them to develop social/life skills and where possible reintegrate back into mainstream education.

You will be responsible for creating a safe and structured learning environment for all pupils and if successful this may lead to a permanent post.

To be considered for the role you must have:
Experience supporting SEN students, specifically with SEBD.
Good knowledge across the curriculum.
Excellent communication skills.
Strong behaviour management with a firm but calm approach.
Knowledge of a range of de-escalation techniques.
A positive attitude and good sense of humour.

Reference details will be requested prior to registration.
Current DBS registered with the DBS Update Service – if you do not have a DBS registered online PK Education will provide full assistance in getting you one.
