SEN PE/Sports CoachTemporary
Main Job: To plan, deliver and assess PE lessons across the school.
Key accountabilities With the support of Senior Leadership, you will:
This role will require you to provide cover for teachers PPA time, across the primary age range.
You will ensure the delivery of an inclusive PE and sports curriculum, which meets the needs of pupils with complex special needs.
Lead lunchtime activities.
Organise sports teams and entering local competitions, where appropriate.
Lead on the development of the PE curriculum across the school.
Provide high quality PE training for teaching and support staff
Be accountable for managing a PE budget.
Commit to, promote and operate in accordance with the school’s values and goals including but not limited to: safeguarding; health and safety; equality, diversity and inclusion.
Commit to and participate in other school based activities as required.
Person specification and experience (Specification and experience may vary depending on subject thought or area of responsibility):
NGB Level 2 coaching qualification in at least one sport
Ability to teach PE to Key Stages 1 & 2
Working knowledge of the primary school national curriculum for teaching PE
An clear understanding of SEN needs and suitable strategies to support pupil development and engagement
Ability to use appropriate teaching styles
High level of coaching ability and commitment to developing their knowledge and skill Sports Coach
Job Description: Pay Scale Points 11 – 22 (£21,748 – £27,041) plus SEN (£2,270).
Previous experience working in schools, leading sessions, working with children from all backgrounds, and maintaining control of pupil groups without direct support/supervision
To ensure students are taught according to their individual needs and abilities
To employ teaching strategies that enable all pupils to succeed
An understanding of Health and Safety legislation as it applies to the role
An excellent understanding of Safeguarding legislation
Has energy and initiative
Ability to work as part of a team.
A high level of personal organization.
It is desirable that the successful candidate has:
A degree in sport coaching or similar qualification
Full driving licence, access to own transport and willing to travel
Range of NGB Level 1 or higher qualifications in a variety of sports
Current First Aid qualification (must be completed prior to commencement of post).
Current Safeguarding and Protecting Children qualification (must be completed prior to commencement of post)
