Then this is the role for you! We have plenty of exciting opportunities coming up to work in Special Schools. The school is in Coventry for students in KS1 – KS2. The students have MLD / Moderate Learning Difficulties. The post requires a caring and talented Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Teaching Assistant who is a dedicated to supporting children with Autism, challenging behaviour, non-Verbal. The role will be starting in September 2020.
Due to the nature of the students attending the school the role will require someone who is confident, relational & pro-active! Single-story building situated within over four acres of attractive and well-maintained grounds including allotments, forest school, outdoor exercise equipment and an extensive climbing trail. The vast majority of our classrooms have access to their own outdoor area and we are fortunate to be located in Coventry (CV6).
This full-time role will see the successful candidate supporting students who have been diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) and some speech & language difficulties with Challenging behaviour.
You will be working closely with the Class Teacher, in small groups and on a 1:1 basis. Personal care
will also be involved in the role.
The role will include:
Assisting the teacher with classroom preparation
Work with students who require additional support
Leading group work
Helping the class teacher with pupil observations
- Team Teach Trained
- Level 3 (Teaching assistant)
