Meet PK’s new family members

Seven new faces have joined the PK Education family across our network of seven offices. Yes, seven – that’s three more than last year!

The expansion follows a record year of growth for the growing recruitment company which now boasts seven offices and a team of nearly 40 staff. Staff have been recruited across the board, filling director, recruitment consultant and support positions.

New offices have been opened in Wakefield, Leicester and Manchester. Additionally, the company has relocated to larger, better located premises in Nottingham city centre. The new offices join PK Education’s existing locations in Sheffield, Birmingham, Nottingham and Newcastle.

And to ensure we maintain and enhance our promise of delivering quality supply teachers, cover supervisors and teaching assistants to the schools we work with, we have recruited some fantastic recruitment professionals to take us and you into the new academic year.

Meet PK Education’s new family members:

Romilly Wakeling – Operations Director

Responsible for overseeing the operation of all of PK’s offices (seven and counting), Romilly brings more than 14 years’ experience in education recruitment to the brand Romilly Wakeling - Operations Directornew role at PK. With a former career as a racing driver, it’s fair to say that Romilly lives her life in the fast lane, never standing still, motivating the team around her and playing a key role in growing the PK family.

Romilly commented: “I love the feel of PK Education. It is a shining light of how education recruitment companies should be. We’re committed to working with schools on a partnership level making sure we get the right candidate in the right school. It’s a great environment to work in and alongside like-minded colleagues who are all committed to doing their best.”

Rachael Watchorn – Business Development Manager

As a Melton Mowbray resident, it seems only right that Rachael heads up our brand new Leicester office. As well as having a 17 year career in the staffing and recruitment industry, she brings an additional education focus to her role having studied a combined honours degree in Education, English and History at De Montfort University. She even started a PGCE before leaving to pursue a career in education recruitment.

Rachael commented: “I love how personal and ethical the service at PK Education is. After spending 17 years building my career in the recruitment industry I find it’s a completely different and down to earth approach that makes working for PK really enjoyable.”

Liz Furniss – SEND Manager

Former Special Educational Needs (SEN) teacher, keyworker and child abuse unit manager, Liz Furniss has seen life on the other side of the fence having been a supply teacher herself before crossing over to the recruitment industry seven years ago. She now brings her extensive SEN experience to PK Education’s Sheffield office.

Liz said: “I am so excited to join the PK team. It’s a real team culture with everyone having the same goal and ethos. It’s a pleasure to come to work every day.”

 

Leanne Pope– Candidate Relationship Manager

With nine years’ experience as an education recruitment consultant, Leanne has been appointed as the Client Relationship Manager within our Wakefield office. Within the role, Leanne will be the first point of contact for all new candidates registering with the Wakefield office, Leanne Pope - PK Candidate Relationship Managerguiding them through the registration and clearance process before the wider team helps find them a suitable role within a school.

Leanne commented: “PK’s focus on the school needs, not the agency needs, is refreshing. It’s very different approach to what I am used to, but one I know I will love and which will really appeal to new candidates registering with us.”

In her spare time, Leanne is a Barnardos volunteer working with disabled children to build their confidence and communication skills.

Adam Florance – SEND Manager

Hailing from Newcastle, Adam has been appointed SEND Manager at PK Education’s Newcastle office. He makes Adam Florance – PK SEND Managerthe move to PK from a leading national education recruitment specialist and FTSE 100 Company, bringing strong relationship building skills and passion to the role where he will be managing the Newcastle office alongside Amber Horrox.

Describing what prompted him to join PK, Adam said: “PK’s family approach to education combined with a genuine care for schools and teachers attracted me to the role. It’s a fresh approach and matches my vision and way of doing things.”

 

Licia Turner – Senior Candidate Relationship Manager

Working alongside Rachael in our Leicester office is Licia, who started in recruitment 14 years ago. Initially in construction, Licia moved into education recruitment 10 years ago, with nine of those years being as a Senior Candidate Relationship Manager.

Commenting on her new role Licia said: “PK is a company that is on the up and that has all the opportunity for development and progression that goes with it.  It really made it stand out for me when I was looking for my next role in recruitment. I am delighted to be part of the team and look forward to growing the Leicester office alongside Rachael.”

Outside work, Licia has two children and is a keen horse rider.

June Whitworth – Credit Control Manager

June Whitworth – PK Credit Control Manager

Based at our Sheffield office, June has a long career in finance, having worked as an underwriter for HSBC for a number of years. She originally hails from Leicester however recently moved to Sheffield to be nearer her grown up sons and their families.

She said: “I love working at PK and I also love living in Sheffield. I am stone’s throw from the beautiful Peak District so get to do lots of walking.”

Established in 2015 in Sheffield, PK’s rapid expansion follows increased demand from schools for high quality teachers and support staff with local knowledge and specialist skills.

Last year the company rebranded and made significant investment in its systems and processes in preparation for nationwide expansion in 2017.

New staff have been attracted by the company’s fresh approach to recruitment, which matches staff to schools based on their skills, experience and personality, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach. PK’s approach to recruitment within a crowded and dated industry, is helping it attract quality teaching staff.

Commenting on the company’s growth plans Lee Carpenter, Director of PK Education said: “The company is committed to doing things differently and this approach is paying off after a number of years in business. We place great emphasis on professionalism within PK, both of our own staff and the candidates we supply to schools. This approach is enabling us to grow significantly at a sustainable level and at a rate that we can maintain the quality and standard of our service. It’s a hugely exciting time for the entire PK team. Further expansion is on the cards.”

PK Education supplies teachers, cover supervisors and classroom assistants to primary secondary and SEN schools as well as alternative education providers including Pupil Referral Units and hospital schools.
