About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate, resilient, and inspiring SEMH Teacher to join a supportive specialist education setting in Sheffield. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

You will work with pupils who may have experienced trauma, disrupted education, anxiety, behavioural challenges, or additional learning needs. The successful candidate will create a safe, engaging, and nurturing learning environment where students can build confidence, develop emotionally, and achieve academically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, differentiated lessons tailored to individual needs
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils
  • Support students’ emotional regulation and personal development
  • Implement behaviour strategies and therapeutic approaches consistently
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, pastoral staff, therapists, and families
  • Monitor progress and contribute to EHCP targets and reviews
  • Promote safeguarding, wellbeing, and inclusion at all times

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS/QTLS) or equivalent
  • Experience working with SEMH pupils, SEND, or challenging behaviour
  • Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills
  • A nurturing, patient, and adaptable approach
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed practice is desirable
