Are you a Music Teacher looking for your next opportunity in Durham?

PK Education is recruiting a Music Teacher for a school based in Durham. We are looking for someone with strong subject knowledge and a passion for helping pupils develop their musical skills, creativity and confidence.

The role is to commence ASAP and will be ongoing until further notice.

The role

You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging Music lessons, adapting your teaching to meet pupils’ different abilities and supporting their progress. You will encourage participation through practical and theoretical learning, creating an environment where pupils feel confident performing, composing and exploring music.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering well-structured lessons in line with the school’s curriculum.

  • Developing pupils’ understanding of performance, composition and listening.

  • Assessing pupils’ work and providing clear feedback to support improvement.

  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.

  • Working with colleagues to maintain continuity of learning.

  • Following the school’s safeguarding policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate

To be considered for this role, you should have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised teaching qualification.

  • Experience teaching Music, with strong subject and curriculum knowledge.

  • The ability to make lessons engaging and accessible to pupils of different abilities.

  • Effective classroom management and communication skills.

  • A reliable, professional approach and the ability to settle into a school quickly.

  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for a new one.

  • Suitable references to support your application.
