Meet your PK Education Supply Teachers of the Year 2018!

Six inspiring teachers have been named as PK Education’s Supply Teachers of the Year 2018.
Back for their fourth year, the awards recognise and celebrate the contribution that supply teachers are making on a daily basis to the schools that PK works with throughout the North East, West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, East Midlands, West Midlands and the North West.

The winners were all nominated for the awards by schools and PK Education’s consultants across our seven offices.

Following the nominations, there was a public vote to determine the winners of each region.  More than 450 votes were cast to determine the six winners.

2018 West Yorkshire Supply Teacher of the Year – David Eaton
David, who lives in Moortown near Leeds received 50% of votes. He commented: “It was a big surprise to be nominated and even more of a shock to win. Thank you to Hunslet Carr Primary School for nominating me.”

2018 West Midlands Supply Teacher of the Year – Tina Parmar
Tina secured a massive 67% of votes in the West Midlands region. She commented: “When Indi told me I’d won I was delighted – I think the awards are a great idea and really make supply teachers like myself feel appreciated.”

2018 East Midlands East Midlands Supply Teacher of the Year – Suzanne Boyd
Suzanne, who lives in Rolleston, Nottinghamshire, received 66% of the East Midlands votes. She commented: “I was absolutely stunned and thrilled when I was told I’d won.”

2018 North East Supply Teacher of the Year – Liam Stephenson
Liam swept the board, receiving a whopping 95% of the North East votes. Liam, from Walker, Newcastle, commented: “I’m really chuffed to have won, I got into supply teaching to be the best version of myself and the best teacher I can be so it’s amazing to have this recognised with the award.”

2018 South Yorkshire Supply Teacher of the Year – Steven McArdle
Steven scooped 55% of the South Yorkshire votes. He commented: “I was really happy to win the award. It has rounded off an excellent experience as a supply teacher. ”

2018 North West Supply Teacher of the Year – Saima Mahmood
Saima, from Rochdale, received 58% of the North West votes. She commented: “Winning the award was a lovely boost after having just finished my PGCE course. It’s nice to receive this recognition – I’m naturally quite a shy person so this blew me away.”

Lee Carpenter, Director of PK Education, said: “We are delighted to recognise and reward David, Tina, Suzanne, Liam, Steven and Saima. They are clearly valued by the schools, pupils and peers who voted for them.

“Dedicated supply teachers like our winners are playing an increasing role in education as demand for supply is increasing.

“Although supply teaching offers many rewards it is not without its challenges. Often they are walking into an unfamiliar school with students they’ve never met with little to no prep time. Yet they take it all in their stride, and teach with passion and professionalism to ensure every child can continue their education, regardless of what situation schools find themselves in.”

PK Education is now recruiting for September supply roles. If you’re looking for supply teaching, cover supervisor or teaching assistant roles, then PK Education is looking for the best candidates to work in some fantastic schools with great pupils now.
