Within Birmingham there are eight local rail lines that cross the city, that you’ll be able to take advantage of. Combined with the rail links in the city, you’ll be able to make the most of the bus and metro links. More information on these links can be found on the Network West Midlands website where they publish online timetables and information regarding travel. The highest ranked school in Birmingham according to a recent poll was King Edward VI Aston School. This school for boys is just down the road from the famous Villa Park, home to Aston Villa F.C. Voted as 3rd in the same poll, Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School offers a high standard of education for both boys and girls. Again in terms of its placement it’s advantageous as it is only a short walk from Sutton Coldfield College.
The district of Sandwell is located west of Birmingham, and incorporates most of what is known as West Bromwich. In such a large district, PK is naturally able to identify a high standard of education. One of the most recent institutions in the area to be recognised for their excellence is Delves Infant School. Only in February 2016 did they receive an Outstanding certification from Ofsted. As an example of the great transport in the district, to travel from Birmingham train station to this area it would still only take you around 45 minutes.
This makes it an ideal commuting length for all of our Birmingham teaching jobs.
North of Birmingham by around 8 miles and just off from the M6 motorway, the town of Walsall is great for teaching staff who are wishing to either live there, or commute for their work. If you are looking to work in this area, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to great schooling. After a brief search, PK found 14 schools, from primary right up to those who cater for 16 to 18 year olds who had received an Outstanding rating from Ofsted.
Around a half an hour (by car) away from Wolverhampton, this town is still only just over 10 miles from Birmingham too. This means that once again it’s perfect for those who might be looking to commute to teaching jobs in Birmingham. Regardless, Dudley is a picturesque town that also offers great schooling along with its West Midlands charm. One such school that particularly caught our eye at PK was the Ellowes Hall Sports College, having received an Outstanding Ofsted rating in 2012, they have continued their great work ever since.
