In support of the British Heart Foundation and their Nation of Lifesavers scheme PK Education is, this year, pledging to train supply teachers, cover supervisors and teaching assistants in First Aid to ensure their safety and that of the thousands of pupils they teach in schools every day.
Even in low risk environments accidents that can lead to very serious injuries, take place every day. In fact, over 200,000 injuries in the workplace were recorded last year and schools were no exception. To ensure supply staff know how to provide effective First Aid should the worst happen, PK Education has organised a FREE comprehensive, one-day First Aid course.
The First Aid course is being held at PK’s Sheffield and Birmingham offices and is open to all teachers, cover supervisors and teaching assistants who are registered with PK Education.
Wednesday 26th October at PK Education South Yorkshire office on Vicar Lane, Sheffield, from 10:00am – 4:00pm.
Thursday 27th October at PK Education West Midlands’ office on Granville Street, Birmingham, from 10:00am – 4:00pm.
Lee Carpenter, Director of PK education, said: “We are delighted to offer this first wave of workshops completely free of charge and hope to offer further dates across our offices throughout the year.”
By the end of this course, supply teachers will learn how to handle the following:
• Bleeding (minor and severe)
• Unresponsive casualty
They will also cover the following:
• The role of the first aider
• Managing an emergency
• Communication and casualty care
• Health and safety regulations
Lee added: “These workshops are not just essential for safety in schools but knowing the basics of First Aid is a vital life skill. I am sure that this will give our supply teachers a lot more confidence when dealing with accidents and injuries.”
Places on the First Aid workshops are limited and are on a strictly first come first served basis. To book your place on the Sheffield or the Birmingham First Aid Workshop, please email us here.
PK Education provides free CPD training to all its registered candidates. If you would like to attend one of the free workshops or courses, you can register with PK here.
