PK Education is recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in County Durham seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Army Cadet Instructor to deliver structured cadet-style enrichment activities within a school environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a military, cadet, youth work, or outdoor education background who is passionate about helping young people develop leadership, resilience, teamwork, and confidence.
The successful candidate will work with students through practical activities, outdoor learning, and structured training sessions designed to promote discipline, engagement, and personal development. The role offers flexibility across after-school sessions, enrichment days, and occasional weekend events.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver cadet-style training and enrichment activities within school
- Support students in developing leadership, teamwork, resilience, and confidence
- Plan and lead structured outdoor learning and practical sessions
- Supervise students during activities and exercises
- Promote positive behaviour, discipline, and student engagement
- Follow safeguarding and health & safety procedures at all times
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and pastoral teams
- Act as a positive role model for young people
Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in schools, youth work, coaching, or military settings
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to motivate and engage students through practical activities
- Understanding of safeguarding within education (training can be provided)
- Enhanced DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Reliable, organised, and able to work independently or as part of a team
Desirable:
- Army Cadet Force / CFAV experience
- Military, reserve forces, or uniformed services background
- Experience with Duke of Edinburgh or outdoor education programmes
- First Aid qualification
- Behaviour management experience in schools
