Learning Support Assistant

Job Description:

PK Education is recruiting Learning Support Assistants to provide one-to-one support to pupils with SEN (MLD, Autism) and pupils working below average in reading, writing and maths. Suitable candidates will need to have experience in a similar role, a proven track record of improving learning and attainment levels, and to be qualified to at least level 3.

As a Learning Support Assistant through PK Education, we will be able to offer you a range of positions from temporary, permanent, long term, short term, full time or part time. PK Education supports a variety of schools and Multi Academy Trusts across Birmingham with staffing and recruitment.

The roles would be working with pupils in Early Years, Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2.

The role as a Teaching Assistant is extremely valuable and key to the overall learning and development of pupils. The positions would suit individuals who are seeking a challenging, fun, and rewarding experience. The ideal candidate should have the following:

  • Level 3 qualification: Supporting Learning in Schools (or equivalent course).
  • Or level 6 qualification: Childhood Studies degree (or equivalent course).
  • Supported pupils one-to-one or in smalls groups.
  • as a Teaching Assistant in EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
  • Experience working with children with SEN (an advantage).
  • Flexible and available for full time work.
  • Current, valid DBS (update service).
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of safeguarding policies.
  • Up to date Safeguarding Qualification Lv1.

The ideal candidate should be able to demonstrate the following skills:

  • The ability to adapt quickly to a variety of situations.
  • Caring attitude and a passion to contribute the learning and development of pupils.
  • Be a confident person with a warm and friendly approach.
  • Able to apply behaviour policies effectively.
