Literacy & Numeracy Teaching Assisstant

PK Education is currently recruiting for Literacy and Numeracy Intervention Teaching Assistants to support pupils at a primary school in Northumberland.

We are looking for patient, enthusiastic individuals who can help children build confidence and make progress in their reading, writing and maths.

The role:

• Deliver targeted literacy and numeracy interventions to individuals and small groups.

• Support reading, phonics, comprehension, writing and core maths skills.

• Work alongside teachers to tailor activities to pupils’ learning needs.

• Monitor pupils’ progress and share feedback with teaching staff.

• Encourage engagement, independence and confidence.

• Adapt support for pupils with SEND or those requiring additional help.

Requirements:

• Experience supporting primary-aged pupils, ideally with literacy or numeracy interventions.

• A good understanding of primary English and maths, including phonics.

• The ability to build positive relationships and adapt activities to different abilities.

• Strong communication skills and a patient, encouraging approach.

• An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for a new one.
