PK Education are recruiting Maths Cover Supervisors to work within secondary schools across Rotherham from January 2026.

This is an excellent opportunity for Maths graduates, aspiring teachers, experienced Cover Supervisors and individuals with a strong mathematical background who are interested in working in education.

You don’t need Qualified Teacher Status!

As a Maths Cover Supervisor, you’ll supervise pre-planned Mathematics lessons when the usual teacher is absent, ensuring students remain engaged, understand their tasks and continue making progress.

You’ll have the opportunity to support students across KS3 and KS4, helping them build confidence with mathematical concepts while gaining valuable classroom experience yourself.

The Role

• Supervising pre-planned Mathematics lessons across KS3 and KS4

• Explaining lesson instructions and supporting students with assigned work

• Helping students understand mathematical tasks where appropriate

• Supporting topics such as algebra, geometry, fractions and problem-solving

• Maintaining positive classroom behaviour and high expectations

• Encouraging students to remain focused and complete their work

• Providing feedback to teaching staff

• Supporting general classroom cover when required

• Mathematics graduates

• Engineering and Physics graduates

• Aspiring Maths Teachers considering a PGCE

• Experienced Cover Supervisors with strong Maths knowledge

• Teaching Assistants with Maths support experience

• Tutors with experience supporting secondary-aged students

The Ideal Candidate

• Strong mathematical knowledge, ideally to GCSE level

• Experience working with children or young people

• Confidence supervising secondary school classes

• Excellent communication and behaviour management skills

• Ability to explain mathematical concepts clearly

• A reliable, patient and professional approach

• An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
