PE Cover Supervisor

Location: Barnsley
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026
Salary: £24,500-£29,000 per day (dependent on experience)

PK Education are recruiting on behalf of a secondary school in Barnsley seeking a Cover Supervisor with a PE background to join their team from September.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in sport, coaching, PE, or youth development who enjoys working with young people and wants to build a long-term career within education.

Although you’ll spend some time supporting within the PE department, the role also involves supervising lessons across a variety of subjects, delivering pre-set work, and maintaining a positive learning environment throughout the school.

The Role

• Supervising lessons across KS3 and KS4
• Supporting the PE department when required
• Delivering pre-planned lessons during teacher absence
• Promoting positive behaviour and student engagement
• Becoming a key member of the school’s cover team

What We’re Looking For

• Background in PE, sport, coaching, or physical education
• Experience working with young people
• Confident leading groups and managing behaviour
• Strong communication skills
• Enthusiastic, reliable, and professional
