We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support pupils with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities (PMLD) at a welcoming specialist school in Sheffield.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping children and young people achieve their full potential. You will work alongside experienced teachers and therapists to provide personalised support that enables pupils to access learning, develop communication skills and enjoy meaningful experiences throughout the school day.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with PMLD.
  • Assist with personal care, feeding and moving and handling (training provided where required).
  • Support pupils with sensory learning, communication and engagement activities.
  • Help create a safe, stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families to meet individual learning and care needs.
  • Monitor and record pupil progress and contribute to planning where appropriate.
  • Promote pupils’ independence, dignity and wellbeing at all times.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

  • Has experience working with children or adults with additional needs (desirable but not essential).
  • Is patient, caring and resilient.
  • Has excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
  • Can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families.
  • Is willing to undertake training, including manual handling and personal care where necessary.

What We Offer

  • A supportive and friendly school community.
  • Ongoing professional development and specialist SEND training.
  • The opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children with complex needs.
  • Competitive rates of pay.
  • Dedicated support from an experienced leadership team.

Whether you have previous experience in special education, healthcare or care work, or you are looking to begin a rewarding career supporting children with additional needs, we would love to hear from you.

This post is subject to an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
