PK Education are currently recruiting for a Science Technician to join a secondary school in Northumberland from September 2026.
We are looking for an organised, practical and reliable individual to support a busy Science department and help ensure lessons and practical activities run safely and effectively.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and setting up equipment, chemicals and resources for practical Science lessons.
- Supporting teachers and students during practical activities.
- Maintaining laboratories, equipment and Science resources.
- Ensuring appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.
- Monitoring stock levels and assisting with ordering and organisation of resources.
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the Science department.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a Science Technician, laboratory or similar practical role is desirable.
- Good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
- Organised, reliable and able to work independently.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff and students.
- Relevant Science or laboratory qualifications/experience would be advantageous.
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service is preferred, or you must be willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS through PK Education.
