Site Manager

PK Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Site Manager to join a secondary school in Gateshead from September.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can take responsibility for the day-to-day running, safety and maintenance of the school site, while also coordinating a small facilities team and external contractors.

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Overseeing the general maintenance, security and smooth operation of the school premises.
• Carrying out routine inspections, minor repairs and practical maintenance tasks.
• Coordinating contractors and ensuring work is completed safely and to a good standard.
• Supporting health and safety, compliance checks and accurate site records.
• Managing site security, including opening/closing the school and responding to emergencies when required.
• Organising room set-ups, deliveries, grounds maintenance and general site requirements.
• Supporting and coordinating the facilities team, including allocating tasks and managing day-to-day priorities.
• Assisting with school events, lettings and other activities that require site support.

About You

We are looking for someone who is practical, organised and proactive, with previous experience in site management, facilities management, caretaking or a similar environment.

You should have:

• Experience of managing or maintaining a large site, ideally within an educational or public-sector environment.
• Good practical maintenance skills and a hands-on approach.
• Knowledge of health and safety and general premises compliance.
• The ability to coordinate staff, contractors and competing priorities.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• A reliable and flexible approach, with the ability to respond to occasional out-of-hours requirements.

An Enhanced DBS will be required for the successful candidate, or you must be willing to obtain one.
