Year 5/6 Teacher – Maternity Cover | Wakefield

Start: October Half Term 2026
Contract: Full-Time Maternity Cover until Easter 2027
Location: Wakefield
Pay: To scale, dependent on experience

PK Education are urgently recruiting a qualified Primary Teacher for a full-time Year 5/6 maternity cover at a primary school in the Wakefield area.

This is an excellent opportunity for a confident KS2 teacher looking for the security of a long-term placement, commencing after the October half-term and continuing through until Easter 2027.

The successful teacher will take responsibility for a Year 5/6 class, including teaching, assessment and day-to-day class responsibilities. Schemes of work are already in place across the curriculum, providing a strong planning structure for the successful teacher to follow and adapt to the needs of the class.

We are particularly keen to hear from teachers who have:

• QTS and experience teaching within KS2, ideally Year 5 and/or Year 6
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
• Confidence establishing clear routines and expectations
• The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Availability for a full-time commitment through to Easter 2027

Experienced teachers and strong ECTs with upper-KS2 experience are welcome to apply.
