SEND Learning Support Assistant
Location: Birmingham (Special School – severe learning needs; ages 3‑19)
• Full time, term time only- Starting ASAP
• Opportunities for becoming permanent, subject to performance and availability

The Role:
You’ll be working full‑time, term‑time only, supporting pupils with severe learning difficulties and associated needs. Your responsibilities will include:
• Supporting learners to access a highly personalised curriculum tailored to their EHCPs
• Assisting with communication support (often including systems like PECS, Makaton), sensory integration, emotional regulation
• Helping with personal care and hygiene, including support with toileting, feeding or mobility where needed
• Delivering learning in one‑to‑one or small group settings as well as assisting in whole‑class sessions
• Collaborating with therapists, teachers, and families to promote pupils’ well‑being, independence, and life skills
• Ensuring that each learner feels safe, valued, respected, and included
What we are looking for:
You’ll thrive in this role if you:
• Have experience working with children or young people with SEND / SLD in school, care or community settings
• Are patient, resilient and adaptable — able to adjust your approach to meet individual needs
• Have some experience or willingness to learn communication support methods, handling sensory needs, and complex behaviour
• Are committed to high standards of care, safety, inclusion and well‑being for all pupils
• Hold (or are willing to develop) relevant qualifications (e.g. Level 2 / Level 3 in Supporting Teaching & Learning) is a plus
