About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties) Teacher to join our specialist team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of pupils with complex learning needs, including physical disabilities, sensory impairments, and medical needs.

You will deliver a highly personalised curriculum tailored to each pupil’s EHCP outcomes, focusing on communication, sensory engagement, life skills, and emotional wellbeing.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging, and differentiated lessons for pupils with PMLD.

  • Develop and implement individual learning plans aligned with EHCP targets.

  • Use a range of communication approaches (e.g., PECS, Makaton, AAC).

  • Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and medical professionals.

  • Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.

  • Monitor, assess, and record pupil progress effectively.

  • Support pupils with personal care where required.

  • Ensure safeguarding and health & safety procedures are strictly followed.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • Experience working with pupils with PMLD or complex SEND needs.

  • Strong understanding of sensory-based learning approaches.

  • Knowledge of communication strategies for non-verbal learners.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.

  • A patient, nurturing, and resilient approach.


Desirable

  • Experience in a specialist SEND school or resource base.

  • Team Teach or positive behaviour support training.

  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
