About the Role
PK Education are working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in North Sheffield who are seeking an experienced and dedicated SENCo to join their team from September 2026. This is a 1-year maternity cover position, offering an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a supportive and forward-thinking school.
As SENCo, you will play a key role in leading and managing the provision for students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that all pupils receive the support they need to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with senior leadership, teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies to deliver a high-quality, inclusive education for all learners.
Key Responsibilities
Leading and managing the SEND provision across the school, ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice. Overseeing and coordinating EHCPs, reviews, and interventions to support student progress. Supporting teachers in delivering high-quality, inclusive teaching and learning strategies. Monitoring and tracking the progress of students with SEND, implementing effective support plans where required. Liaising with parents, carers, and external professionals to ensure a collaborative approach to student support. Managing and supporting a team of teaching assistants and support staff.

What We’re Looking For
A qualified teacher with SENCo experience or the National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to work towards it). Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and the ability to implement effective strategies to support a wide range of needs. Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills. A commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for students with additional needs. An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
