Trainee Teaching Assistant

Location: Sheffield (Secondary Schools)
Start Date: April and September 2026

Are you committed to supporting young people and considering a future career in education? PK Education are working with a number of dynamic and inclusive secondary schools across Sheffield who are seeking motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join as Trainee Teaching Assistants.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for those looking to gain hands-on experience within a school setting, particularly if you are considering a career in teaching, SEND support, pastoral care, or educational psychology.

Key Responsibilities

Supporting teachers in delivering engaging and effective lessons across a range of subjects. Providing targeted support to individual pupils or small groups, particularly those who require additional support. Assisting with the preparation of classroom resources and displays. Monitoring student progress and behaviour to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. Building strong, positive relationships with students and staff. Taking part in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

This role provides a strong foundation for a career in education, offering valuable classroom experience, regular feedback, and opportunities to learn from experienced staff.

We Are Looking For

Individuals who are energetic, empathetic, and passionate about supporting young people. Strong communicators who work well as part of a team. Reliable, organised, and proactive individuals with a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Desirable (but not essential)

Previous experience working or volunteering with children or young people. A genuine interest in pursuing a career in education or youth work. GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics.
