School Caretaker – Flexible Opportunities | PK Education

PK Education is currently seeking reliable and proactive Caretakers to work within school environments. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who are practical, adaptable, and take pride in maintaining safe and well-functioning facilities.

About the Role:
As a Caretaker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the school site, ensuring it is safe, secure, and well-maintained for students and staff. No formal qualifications or direct experience are essential—however, being “handy” and confident with basic repairs is crucial.

Key Responsibilities:

• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs (basic plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.)
• Opening and closing the school site, managing keys and alarm systems
• Monitoring site safety, including fire safety and hazard prevention
• Coordinating with contractors for larger repairs when required
• Managing cleaning schedules, deliveries, and general site upkeep
• Responding to maintenance issues quickly and effectively

What We’re Looking For:

• Practical skills and a “hands-on” approach (DIY, home improvement, or similar experience)
• Strong problem-solving ability and initiative
• Reliability and trustworthiness, especially with site security responsibilities
• Good understanding of health & safety and risk awareness
• Ability to prioritise tasks and manage a varied workload
• Strong communication skills when interacting with staff, students, and contractors
• Good attention to detail to spot and prevent issues early
• Physical fitness and stamina for a demanding, active role
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
• Basic IT awareness (desirable for modern school systems)

Pay Rates:

• Umbrella: £16.80 – £17.00 per hour
• PAYE: £12.30 – £13.50 per hour
