Summer can be a frustrating time if you don’t have any work lined up, however, this summer, our friends at YHA (England and Wales) have made us aware of an opportunity to boost your CV and gain further experience working with young people.
The youth hostelling charity, YHA (England and Wales) is looking for volunteers for its week-long Summer Camps, held in July and August. Available to anyone who is over 18, who can attend training and be able to pass a DBS check, this is a great opportunity for graduates looking to get into education or people about to embark on their NQT year.
The GoXtreme and Action Adventure Summer Camps will be running in Derbyshire, Shropshire, Gloucestershire, Dartmoor and East Sussex. Those who are taking part will be given free accommodation, travelling expenses and food throughout the volunteering experience.
Lee Carpenter, Director of PK Education commented: “We understand that summer can be difficult for some if there is no work lined up. Whilst we do have opportunities available, not everybody wants to work throughout the six weeks in summer.
“This volunteering opportunity is a great chance to really do something worthwhile this summer professionally and personally. We’re delighted to be able to share the opportunity and the attributes that YHA is looking for in its summer camp volunteers sound like our candidates to a tee.”
YHA is looking for people who can commit to at least a week of volunteering, are experienced in working with young people, flexible, great communicators, enjoy working in a high-energy environment and are organised.
The closing date for all Summer Camp volunteer applications is 22 May 2017. To find out more about YHA Summer Camps visit YHA’s website and get in touch with YHA and specify what camp you would like to get involved with.
