Earn money and gain classroom experience after your PGCE course

After you have completed the last placement of your Post Graduate Certificate of Education (PGCE) course, and before you embark on your permanent, full-time teaching career, why not take the opportunity to earn money and gain valuable additional classroom experience to further enhance your CV?

Ahead of finishing their second teaching placement, thousands of NQTs are now looking for their first permanent teaching job for September. To stand out from the competition, as well as discover jobs that haven’t as of yet been advertised, PK Education is urging soon-to-be NQTs to consider supply cover supervisor work.

Temporary Cover Supervisor work is an opportunity to experience different schools and teaching environments, like Pupil Referral Units (PRU) or Special Educational Needs (SEN), ahead of beginning a full-time teaching career.

Lee Carpenter, Director at PK Education said: “The time between the completion of your PGCE course and the end of the school year shouldn’t be wasted. You could be gaining real, valuable classroom management and teaching experience whilst earning money. We know, from the feedback we receive from schools that having this experience on a CV helps an NQT really stand out in the selection and interview process.”

PK Education has cover supervisor roles available across its offices in Newcastle, Sheffield, Nottingham and Birmingham. If you’re interested in becoming a cover supervisor before the end of the school year, please find our job vacancies here and use our helpful job search facility to find any appropriate opportunities near you.
