Admissions Officer – Temporary (12 Months)
Location: BD8
Hours: Full time, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm
Pay: £117.25–£129.25 per day (dependent on experience)
Contract: 12-month temporary position
About the Role
We are seeking a highly organised and compassionate Admissions Officer to join our team on a temporary 12-month basis. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and positive transition of pupils into our school, ensuring that families feel welcomed, informed, and supported throughout the admissions process.
This position is ideal for someone with strong administrative experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with children, young people, and their families.
Key Responsibilities
Initial Visits & Referrals
- Coordinate and conduct initial visits for referred pupils and their families.
- Provide a welcoming and informative experience that reflects the school’s values.
Transport Arrangements
- Organise and confirm safe and timely transport arrangements for new pupils.
Induction Process
- Complete all induction paperwork accurately with pupils and families.
- Prepare and distribute tailored induction packs ahead of start dates.
- Liaise with teaching and pastoral teams to ensure smooth, well-informed transitions.
Internal Communication
- Work closely with teachers, pastoral staff, and SENCOs to share relevant pupil information.
- Ensure all staff are aware of new admissions, needs, and considerations.
External Liaison
- Communicate with local authorities, social workers, and external agencies to support admissions.
- Assist with transition processes when pupils move to other educational providers.
Record Keeping & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, compliant admissions records in line with safeguarding and data protection policies.
- Support audits and reporting linked to admissions.
Person Specification
Essential:
- Experience in an administrative or admissions role (education or care setting preferred).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to work sensitively with families and young people.
- Competence with Microsoft Office and school management systems.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of SEND processes and referral pathways.
- Experience working with external agencies (e.g., local authorities, CAMHS).
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection in education.
