Phonics Intervention Assistant

Start Date: November 2024

Location: Alternative provision, Chesterfield.

Daily Rate: £120 – £132

Contract: Full-time, 37 hours per week.

About the role: You will be required to deliver phonics, literacy and reading interventions to pupils who exhibit behaviours that prevent them from attending a mainstream school. Pupils who attend have challenging and often complex needs, with reading ages well below their chronological age.

The role requires someone who is resilient, have high expectations of pupils, and a sense of humour. You will be required to identify pupils at KS3 and KS4 who require reading intervention and deliver a variety of strategies recording and monitoring progress and impact.

Requirements:

×          Good Knowledge of working with Read Write Inc Fresh Start or of another phonics programme.

×          An affinity for pupils with behaviour, emotional and social difficulties.

×          Access to a car and be willing to add business insurance at point of employment (Millage claims are included for travel away from school).

×          Enhanced DBS on the update service.
