Working with PK Education at a Primary Academy in Dewsbury

PK Education are seeking a Primary Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a vibrant primary academy in Dewsbury on a full-time, long-term basis. This role will start ASAP and run through until July 2025.

Role Overview:

In this exciting role, your mornings will be spent supporting KS2 pupils in small group interventions across key subject areas, with planning and delivery supported by the class teacher. You’ll have access to an intervention room, allowing you to focus on adapting learning to meet the needs of each individual pupil.

In the afternoons, you will be working closely with KS1 pupils on a 1:1 basis, delivering phonics interventions using the RWI (Read Write Inc.) scheme. This will provide valuable support to pupils who need additional help with literacy, ensuring they are on track to meet their academic potential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Leading small group interventions for KS2 pupils across core subject areas (e.g., Maths, English)
• Adapting learning and intervention plans based on individual pupil needs
• Providing 1:1 phonics interventions for KS1 pupils using the Read Write Inc. scheme
• Supporting pupils’ overall development, ensuring they achieve key learning outcomes
• Working closely with the class teacher to plan and deliver effective interventions
• Contributing to the ongoing development of the school’s intervention strategies

Requirements:

• HLTA qualification or equivalent (Level 4 or above)
• Previous experience supporting KS1 and KS2 pupils in a primary school setting
• Strong knowledge and understanding of phonics and the Read Write Inc. scheme
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet the needs of individual pupils
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with teachers and support staff
• A passion for helping pupils succeed and thrive in their learning
