We are seeking an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Science Teacher to join our dedicated team on a long-term basis.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire the next generation of scientists, encourage curiosity, and bring science to life through engaging and practical learning experiences.
As a long-term teacher, you will take full responsibility for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons in line with the national curriculum.
You’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact on students’ academic progress and love for science.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons that cater to a range of abilities.
- Teach across Key Stage 3 and 4 (KS5 if applicable), covering topics in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.
- Design and implement engaging practical activities to enhance learning.
- Monitor and assess student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments, including GCSEs (or A-Levels).
- Create a safe and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and curiosity.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop curriculum resources and share best practices.
- Attend department meetings, parent evenings, and school functions as required.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and contribute to report writing.
- Uphold the school’s behaviour policies and support positive student conduct.
Requirements
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognized teaching qualification.
- Degree in a science-related field (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or General Science).
- Experience teaching science at secondary level (KS3/KS4; KS5 is a plus).
- Strong classroom management skills and a commitment to safeguarding.
- Passion for science education and a creative approach to teaching.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to adapt to a new school environment and work collaboratively within a team.
Desirable
- Experience with exam boards such as AQA, OCR, or Edexcel.
- Experience teaching A-Level or BTEC science courses.
- Familiarity with SIMS or other school information systems.
