Location: Sheffield
Contract: Full-time (Maternity Cover)
Start Date: September 2026
Duration: 1 Year (or until return of postholder)
Salary: £170–£220 per day (dependent on experience)

About the Role

PK Education are working with a secondary school in Sheffield who are seeking a knowledgeable and engaging Social Sciences Teacher to join their team from September 2026. This is a full-time maternity cover position, offering a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and well-established department.

The successful candidate will deliver Social Sciences across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5, with subjects likely to include Psychology, Sociology, or Health & Social Care (depending on experience). You will play a key role in developing students’ analytical thinking, subject knowledge, and exam confidence, particularly at KS5 where strong subject expertise is essential.

Key Responsibilities

Planning and delivering high-quality Social Sciences lessons across KS4 and KS5. Supporting students in developing critical thinking, evaluation, and exam technique. Assessing and tracking progress, providing clear and constructive feedback. Maintaining strong classroom management and a positive learning environment. Contributing to the wider department and supporting student development both academically and personally.

What We’re Looking For

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching experience. Strong subject knowledge within Social Sciences (e.g. Psychology, Sociology, Health & Social Care), including the ability to teach at KS5. Ability to engage and motivate students across KS4 and KS5. Strong classroom management and organisational skills. A proactive and adaptable approach. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
