Science Tips (Year 1 – 6)

PK Education. Your Destination For Inspiration.

Teaching primary pupils remotely has its challenges at the best of times.  However keeping young and aspiring scientists engaged and developing their skills may be challenging but certainly not impossible. After all, science is all around us!

Here some ideas to spark their curiosity:

1. Get them outside

From listening to sounds in the garden to exploring plants and trees.   Set your class an exercise to engage with the great outdoors.  This is a great science activity to encourage use and understanding of their senses. Children could make a diary of the noises they hear, the smell and texture of the plants and wildlife they find in the garden.

Check out BBC Bitesize for more ideas.

2. Make it big and bold!

It may seem obvious and we know young students learn through visual stimulation so you can never have too many visual resources.  However, there are some excellent visual resources to teach children about the human body right here.

3. Carry out home experiments

This will be sure to create some excitement and fun!   From carrying out experiments with ice to making homemade slime there are stacks of ideas over at Twinkl.
